Job Title: 504 Coordinator and Testing Support Staff

Start: January 27, 2025

Rate of Pay: $25.17/hr, Full Time

211 day agreement/year

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Responsibilities of 504 Coordinator

  • Maintain records and documentation for all students eligible under Section 504
  • Ensure the implementation of Section 504 procedures in the school building, including: 
    • Coordinating referrals
    • Determining appropriate Section 504 team composition and participating on Section 504 teams
    • Facilitating Section 504 evaluations and development of Section 504 plans
    • Providing notices of meetings and parental rights and documenting parental consent
    • Distributing Section 504 plans to appropriate staff
    • Monitoring the implementation of Section 504 plans
    • Scheduling annual reviews of each Section 504 plan
    • Scheduling transfer meetings for incoming students with Section 504 plans
    • Scheduling period re-evaluations of all students eligible under Section 504 at least every three years
    • Assuring that Section 504 plans move with the student to the next grade level and to new schools
    • Coordinating training of building staff on Section 504 requirements
    • Conducting manifestation determinations when required for students eligible under Section 504
    • Facilitating Abbreviated Day Schedule Plans for students with Section 504 plans when necessary 
  • Serve as a daily resource to the building administrators, teachers, and staff regarding Section 504
  • Serve as a liaison between the school building and other district staff regarding Section 504 issues
  • Maintain contact with the district Section 504 Coordinator and request assistance and training when needed
  • Attend periodic district and state Section 504 trainings as needed to stay informed about current requirements to comply with Section 504
  • Stay informed about legal requirements, educational interventions, and best practices for accommodations for students with disabilities under Section 504 and provide training to staff when needed

    Knowledge and Skills Required

  • A working knowledge of current laws, regulations, and guidelines related to disability discrimination in public schools, including Section 504, as well as rules and guidelines adopted by the Oregon Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse constituents, including children, parents, faculty, staff, and institution administration
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and exercise consistent good judgment
  • Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and work independently


Responsibilities of Testing Support Staff

 

  • Prepare school staff for statewide testing programs 
  • Interpret testing results and convey the results to staff 
  • Train and support administrative staff and school test administrators 
  • Utilize basic statistical procedures 
  • Maintain complete and accurate records 
  • Use common office machines and computer-driven word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance programs 
  • Express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing 
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Adapt and adjust the schedule to fit the requirements of the testing window for students and families
  • Monitor and report on testing completion rates, and adjust practices to improve student participation

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Knowledge of the various tests required of public school students 
  • Knowledge of the technical variables associated with testing 
  • Knowledge of the operation of computer and scanning equipment 
  • Knowledge of state and local testing requirements 
  • Knowledge of the proper conditions, practices and procedures for testing 
  • Knowledge of the current literature, trends, methods, and developments in the area of standardized testing 
  • Knowledge of the ethical guidelines applicable to the positions as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations

Education: 

  •  High School diploma or equivalent.

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Bilingual ability in either Spanish or Russian is highly desirable.
